Grab the tiger by the balls ∣ 抓虎爛 – An IMCCI Exhibition

Grab the tiger by the balls is the literal translation from a Spanish saying Tocale los guevos al tigre This colloquial expression refers to someone who attempts to irritate or to step your line. But who is this someone? Who dares to grab the tiger by the balls? Could this someone be you? This saying suggests taking action and challenges you to grab the tiger by the balls. We challenge our visitors to participate and be part of the artwork.

With students from different countries and cultures, the nature of IMCCI is hard to pin down even within Taipei National University of Art. A mountain of monsters, the wonderland of weirdos and artists. Our background brings diversity into the brainstorming funds, and our spirits begin the chaos of relational dynamics.

Departing from the seminar Thinking Contemporary Art: 1960 to the Present led by Professor Hongjohn Lin, the artist/writer/curator/educator, who push this exhibition to happen and believe it could happen. Grab the tiger by the balls assembles a collection of diverse perspectives on topics of global interest. Each piece is a reflection of the conversations and challenges in this class, muse on Pandemic, Relational Aesthetics, Racism, Information Consumption, and Disciplines of Politics.,

The artwork exhibited will evolve and arise as time passes by. As those ideas gradually grow in us.
