Cultural Transmission with Kedrekedr Maljaljaves

Students in “Heritage: From Tradition to the Future”learned from Kedrekedr Maljaljaves (Lin Hsiu-Hui) about the weaving culture of the Paiwan people of Taiwan. This lecture was in preparation for our fieldwork with Ljumiyang (Hsu Chun-mei), a master of the craft who was recently designated a National Treasure in 2020. Ms. Maljaljaves shared about her journey to rediscover and reinterpret her heritage through cultural entrepreneurship initiatives, and what it means to live that process.
