This talk discusses 2020 hit Taiwanese queer film, “Your Name Engraved Herein”, through the dual lenses of ‘the Sinophone’ and ‘homonationalism’. How do these phenomena intersect in a unique way with respect to the Taiwanese queer public sphere? What does the success of the film mean for Taiwan and its discursive location – speaking not only to its citizens, but to the Sinophone, the Asia-Pacific region, and the world, about the role of queer people in society?
