Belizean Folk Dance: Workshops in Beitou Elementary school

From March 3rd to 12th, 5 lecturers will give 8 handcraft and body workshops at Beitou Elementary school. On March 10th, Melody Wagner conducted a Belizean Folk Dance Lesson Plan workshop for a sixth-grade class.

This session will teach students 2 different ethnic dances from Belize. The first half of the session taught students about the Kriol Bruckdown dance, the second half taught students about the Garifuna Punta dance. Before learning this dance, Melody Wagner introduced the background on Belizean Culture. After moving to the dance classroom, the lecturer showed different basic steps. All students separated into groups of 6 to practice. The dance is done both by couple.
